Worried About Paying for College? Read This Now!

If you’re a parent or student who is worried about paying for college, I feel your pain right now.

I, too, have college on the brain – mainly because my oldest daughter is a senior in high school and she’s presently filling out college applications.

She’s a terrific student and is even vying to be a 2015 National Merit Scholarship winner. But it definitely hasn’t escaped my husband and I that each of the schools on her list of college prospects has a sticker price between $55,000 and $65,000 per year.

With a son who is currently a freshman in high school, and another younger daughter now in third grade, I know we’ll need help in tackling total college expenses for three kids. I also want our family to be smart about paying for college – and to avoid student loans if at all possible.

That’s why I’ve been boning up on the fiscal aspects of lowering college costs. And I’m confident that what I’ve learned will not only help my family – but yours as well.

In fact, I’m super excited to announce that I’ve just finished two years’ worth of research and writing about the financial side of higher education. The end result of my work is a new book series on controlling college costs and minimizing student loans.

The flagship book, which launches this month, is called College Secrets: How to Save Money, Cut College Costs and Graduate Debt Free.

The companion book in the series, which debuts November 2014, is called College Secrets for Teens: Money Saving Ideas for the Pre-College Years.

With these two books, simply put, I’ve done a lot of the heavy lifting for you. For literally every college and pre-college expense you can think of – not to mention several dozen other college expenses of which most people aren’t even aware – I explain how to either completely eliminate or greatly reduce those costs.

For example, in College Secrets I reveal:

  • 22 hidden costs that college officials never talk about
  • 24 tricks to slash in-state and out-of-state tuition costs
  • 7 tips to keep room and board expenses under control
  • 13 strategies to save money on books and supplies
  • 14 lifestyle costs that students must manage wisely
  • 6 do’s and don’ts to avoid credit card debt in college
  • 12 steps to boost your odds of winning scholarships and grants
  • 15 common mistakes that reduce your financial aid

In College Secrets for Teens, I tell you:

  • 40 free pre-college programs at top U.S schools
  • 30+ elite schools that pay for you to visit them
  • 8 methods to pay nothing for college applications
  • 10 foolish ways students pick the wrong colleges
  • 5 critical rules to choose the best college for you
  • The AP or Advanced Placement strategy that can save you up to $40,000
  • How I saved $4,000+ on my kids’ pre-college programs
  • Insider advice on getting in to your first-choice college or university
